In the year 2169, the countries that once made up the world have fallen apart after WW3 in 2084 (2084-2089) their governing bodies have been mostly bought out by the Iron fisted and pragmatic mega-corporations, while these corporations are primarily peaceful with each other, the sense of tension rises between the corps (and their countries into a third “Cold war” (the second taking place in the time between the second American civil war, which took place from 2035 to 2039, and before WW3 from 2079 - 2084). This was also known as “The Dark War”.

It was during this time that one of the mega-corporations (ObsidianTech) took advantage of the war and began performing unethical experiments to find the limit to the amount and types of modifications the human body could endure.

This was the proverbial opening of Pandora's box. After peace negotiations were finalized and the exportation of goods could resume (the importation and exportation of any merchandise were banned due to the “Dark War”) ObsidianTech began selling these modifications & enhancements to great profits. Soon after the other corps. Began selling their own modifications & enhancements.  This was the “Age of Chrome and Steel”
